W H Scott & Son Funeral Directors, Edgbaston
About our Edgbaston funeral home
Our funeral home, founded over 80 years ago on Rotton Park Road, is easily accessible from Smethwick, Winson Green, Hockley, the Jewellery Quarter, Ladywood, Bearwood and beyond.
Over the years, several changes have been made to our funeral home. The original stables were adapted to modern garages, where we house our fleet to keep our cars in immaculate condition for the funeral services that we oversee.
Our team are here to help you with whatever you need to ensure your loved one’s funeral service is conducted beautifully and seamlessly.
However you wish to say goodbye to your loved one, we will arrange it. Whether that is a simple religious ceremony or a vibrant celebration of your loved one’s life.
If you prefer to arrange the funeral details from the comfort of your own home, we will be happy to come arrange a visit. We will sit down with you to discuss your wishes and requests, such as picking the flowers, the cortege route, the coffin and more.
We are here to support you and your family through every step. You can get in touch with us at any time you need on 0121 558 8801. We will be there for you.

0121 558 8801From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
