The congregation gather at the Armed Services Memorial at Heart of England Crematorium
Crematorium helps to remember war heroes
At 11.15 a.m. on Friday 9 November, a Memorial Service was held at Heart of England Crematorium in Nuneaton to remember and honour those members of the Armed Services that gave their lives defending this country and its interests.
The Service was attended by members of the British Ghurkha Veterans Association, The Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Association of Nuneaton, local Sea Cadets, crematorium staff and members of the public. The Service was led by Reverend Alex Potts, former Padre of 30th Signal Regiment, Bramcote, and Reverend Donald Jones from St Nicolas Church.
There were two standard bearers in attendance - one from the Royal British Legion of Nuneaton and Stockingford and one from the Royal Naval Association of Nuneaton who dipped their standards while The Last Post was being played. The Service included the playing of Nimrod by Elgar, hymns and prayers, whilst Don Jacques, the Chairman of the Nuneaton and Stockingford Royal British Legion, quoted the Exaltation and the Kohima Epitaph before a minutes silence was observed.
Following the Service, the congregation were led to the Memorial for those that have served in the Armed Forces where poppy wreaths were laid.
