The new crematorium and cemetery is anticipated to open in the autumn of 2011.
Dignity Newsletter: 14th June 2011
The development of Dignity's new crematorium and cemetery in Minster Road, Stourport commenced in June 2010 and was completed in June 2011.
Dignity has finalised details of the entrance works with Worcester Highways and will shortly be starting construction of the entrance onto the public highway. Following completion of these works the site is anticipated to open in the autumn of 2011.
The crematorium building has a very modern design incorporating state of the art facilities and will be surrounded by landscaped gardens and a cemetery that will provide burial space for many years to come to meet the Council's requirements.
The construction of the crematorium building is now finished but some of the final equipment is to be installed this is to include an up to date computerised music system alongside the more traditional organ. The single cremator will be tested over the summer; this equipment is built to meet the latest environmental legislation and is fully mercury abated.
Dignity takes its environmental responsibilities seriously and a water harvesting system to serve the whole site is now in place. The drainage system allows rainwater to be harvested at times when the water table is high and keeps it for the summer. This initiative not only saves water but keeps the Gardens of Remembrance looking attractive throughout the year.
