Mayor officially opens Fenland Crematorium
On Thursday 14 October, the Mayor of March, Councillor Andrew Pugh, officially opened the new Fenland Crematorium at Knights End Road in March.
Following the Opening Ceremony a Service of Dedication was led by the Right Reverend David Thomson, Acting Bishop of Ely and Bishop of Huntingdon. The Service was also conducted by Capt. Campbell (Salvation Army), Deni Darke (Civil Celebrant), Deacon Martin Wells (Roman Catholic) and Canon Peter Baxandall, and attended by local Councillors, members of the Clergy, local Funeral Directors and representatives from Dignity, the company that operate the crematorium.
In the near future members of the public will be invited to an Open Day when they will be able to view the crematorium grounds and facilities. Staff will be available at this event to answer any questions that visitors have about the cremation process or the services that Fenland Crematorium will provide.
Jennifer Yardley, Crematoria Regional Manager for Dignity said: "Fenland Crematorium will provide the local community with the highest possible standards of service and facilities that are second to none. We are offering shorter journey times and services that last 45 minutes so that families do not feel rushed on the day they want to remember their loved ones. The grounds of the crematorium will continue to be developed so that the visitors have a place of beauty and tranquillity in which to pay their last respects."
