Fenland Crematorium is now under construction
New crematoria under development
The construction of two new Dignity crematoria is now underway.
Construction work has begun on Fenland Crematorium at March in Cambridgeshire and is due to be completed in August 2010. The crematorium will be fitted with the latest mercury abatement technology to ensure it is environmentally friendly.
Planning permission has also been granted for a new crematorium at Shepton Mallet in Somerset and the land is currently being prepared for development. This new crematorium will be completed next spring.
"These crematoria will be state of the art with very modern facilities," said Steve Gant, general manager for crematoria. "We will be able to offer increased convenience for the local community with shorter journey times and we will ensure that the families and funeral directors we serve receive the highest level of service."
