Our Hearses

Motorised hearses are the most common means of transporting your loved one from our care to the funeral service. We provide a traditional, chauffeur-driven, motorised hearse as part of our Attended Funeral.

For an additional cost, we can arrange alternative hearses, such as a horse and carriage. We can also arrange a bespoke procession route that passes places of interest and importance to your loved one and their life. Whatever you have in mind, please contact a member of our team who will be able to arrange this for you.

Our Limousines

It is traditional for the immediate family and closest friends of your loved one to travel to the funeral behind the hearse in a limousine.

Should you wish, we have a fleet of quality, chauffeur-driven limousines that can take your loved one’s nearest and dearest to the service, followed by the rest of the funeral procession.

Depending on the style of vehicle you choose, our funeral limousines are usually capable of carrying a maximum of between seven and nine mourners. Please contact your funeral arranger for more specific information.

Overview

There are certain third party costs that you may need to pay for your loved one’s funeral to go ahead. These can include crematoria costs and fees for a minister or celebrant.

If you need to pay any of these costs, your funeral arranger will liaise with the necessary third parties and make any required external payments on your behalf. We will also manage and distribute all associated paperwork and documentation.

Example Third Party Costs

  • Crematorium Cost£895
  • Celebrant or Minister Fee£228

Crematoria Costs

Crematoria costs can vary depending on the crematoriums in your local area and the amount that they charge for their services. We’ve provided further information on the three nearest crematoria to W H Scott & Son Funeral Directors to give you an idea of how much crematoria fees may be. If you have another crematorium in mind, please contact your funeral arranger who will be able to provide you with further information on expected costs from your chosen crematorium.

Minister or Celebrant

Most funerals will be conducted by a minister or celebrant. If you choose to have a minister or celebrant, they will lead the service, addressing the congregation and (if you wish) providing a eulogy for your loved one.

Costs can vary depending on the minister or celebrant you choose. Popular choices tend to include:

  • Religious leaders

  • Civil celebrants

  • Humanist celebrants

  • Friends or members of the family
