What do Dignity funeral directors do?

At Mahony & Ward Funeral Directors, people sometimes ask us what a funeral director does, or, alternatively, what's a typical day in the life of a funeral director?
Support for the family...
At least one funeral director remains on call outside of normal opening hours, providing a 24/7 service. Because if somebody passes away at home, whether it's the middle of the afternoon or late into the evening, it's vital that a trained professional can be there to support the family and bring their loved one into our care.

Although attending to the departed is a key aspect of a funeral director's role, it is important that they consider and look after those who have been left behind. Our funeral directors have a duty of care, part of which is to reassure the family and help them through these difficult times.

Those experiencing loss will inevitably have choices to make regarding the funeral; choices they may not feel ready for. It is the job of the funeral director to guide them empathetically through these decisions and to help them give their loved one the best possible send off.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
To ensure they can make the best recommendations as to how the funeral could reflect the wishes of the deceased, our funeral directors take the time to understand more about them and exactly what they meant to the family. This is all part of the compassionate service Mahony & Ward Funeral Directors provides to the Leeds community.

But it doesn't end there. As part of the support our funeral directors offer to every family dealing with the loss of a loved one, they also help with the administrative side of bereavement. This could include guidance on forms that must be completed, as well as support to make sure everything is done in a timely manner.

Our funeral directors offer comprehensive care, looking after the departed and ensuring every single person receives the same attentive treatment as part of our 'care of the deceased' process.

To ensure a loved one is looked after in accordance with the family's wishes, our teams perform their duties to the highest standards, from the moment they first meet the family, through to the funeral service and on to the final goodbye.

Being a part of Dignity means our funeral directors are always looking for ways to make a difference in their local communities. Whether that's by working with local care homes, training the clergy in funeral procedures, or advising other public bodies on the best ways to offer care to the deceased and bereaved.

Mahony & Ward Funeral Directors is thankful to the community here in Pudsey for allowing us to stand alongside them during the most difficult of times. This is, and always will be, a source of great pride to us.
