Edna passed away peacefully on Wednesday 9th August, aged 90. She had been suffering from Alzheimer's for many years.
Edna will be remembered with great affection by all her remaining family, including her older sister, Evelyn and her sister-in-law, Marjorie and by all her nieces & nephews, as well as all her friends, former colleagues, neighbours and latterly by her dedicated carers. She was the loving wife to the late Norman and a dedicated mother to her late son, Philip and to me (Diane). Edna was very popular and well-liked by all who met her. She was kind, caring, intelligent and fun-loving with a great sense of humour.
Edna worked all her life as a secretary, and was highly respected at her various jobs. She had a career break to raise her family, but thereafter continued to work until she retired. In her spare time Edna enjoyed swimming, reading, cooking and travelling. She also liked music & dancing and was very sociable. Unfortunately Alzheimer’s took away her confidence and ability to communicate and write. She became much quieter and was not the chatty person she once was. However, she never lost her indomitable spirit and beautiful smile.
We are keen to celebrate Edna's life at her funeral service and ask that you wear a touch of lilic, pink or purple.
After the service, Diane warmly invites you to join her for light refreshments at Williamson Court, 142 Greaves Road, Lancaster, LA1 4AR.
Donations instead of flowers would be very much appreciated to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK, in the hope that one day, there will be a cure for this horrible disease. These can be left as you leave the Crematorium, or sent directly to the funeral directors in the link below or via a dedicated Just Giving page where you can also write a tribute (https://www.justgiving.com/page/diane-mylchreest-1692259032856
