Catherine Mary Williams (nee Plant) of Crawley, West Sussex passed away peacefully at her home alongside her family, on 12th June 2023, aged 93 years. She was born in Wem, Shropshire.

She wished that there be no flowers purchased in her memory. 


THE FUNERAL

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

The best main route out of Crawley is the A23 towards Gatwick Airport. "Crematorium" road signs start just before the airport and continue all the way to the entrance.

The other main route out of Crawley is the A2011 towards the M23. It's busier and requires a SatNav, as there are no "Crematorium" road signs until you are by the entrance.

CAR PARK / REFRESHMENTS / PHONE SIGNAL

Free car parking is in the Crematorium grounds, at the rear. Follow the blue signs.

In the car park is a snack van (Hygiene Rating 5) plus seats. It takes card payments and serves hot & cold drinks, Cumberland sausage baps, savoury pastries, biscuits and refrigerated snack bars.

The O2 phone signal seems to be poor. (Other networks are unknown.)

TOILETS / WAITING ROOM

The right side of the building has the Waiting Room and Toilets, including a Disabled facility (plus an outdoor wooden bench and litter bin). This is not our service - it is the larger 'St Richard's Chapel'. 

THE SERVICE

The left side of the building has our service - in the smaller 'Memorial Chapel'.

Please be ready to take your seats at 1:05pm as the service starts promptly at 1:15. It ends at 1:45. 


THE RECEPTION

Food is already paid for after the funeral in the 'Extension' room at the Parsons Pig pub, 2 miles away, between 2pm and 4pm. (Hot drinks and soft drinks will be put on their "tab", too.)

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

When leaving the Crematorium, turn left on to the Balcombe Road (B2036).

Continue straight on through the traffic lights for 2 miles. Be careful not to miss the Premier Inn Hotel joined to the Parsons Pig pub (on the left). 

If you miss their car park turning, slow down quickly and take the next sharp left (Radford Road). Do a U-turn down there on the right, using a sewage facility entrance. (There is only the one way into the pub car park.)

PARKING / SEATING / PHONE SIGNAL

Parsons Pig recommend entering your number plate into the tablet computer on arrival. It's near the bar entrance. (This gives you 24 hours free parking in their private, camera-controlled car park.)

Sit in the 'EXTENSION ROOM' immediately to the left of the 'Lounge & Bar' main entrance doorway. You may also overflow out under the parasols. 

The following will be served: Various Sandwiches, Mini Sausage Rolls, Cocktail Sausages, Mini Vegetable Samosas, Mini Vegetable Spring Rolls, Homemade Chicken Goujons, Chips and Assorted Dips. This has all been paid for by the family.

Anyone may stay afterwards at the Parsons Pig, as a private visitor. Just remember the car number plate rule above.

The O2 signal at the pub seems to be weak but acceptable. No other networks were checked.
