Born 05.12.1928 North Finchley

Died 20.01.2024 peacefully in York Hospital after a short illness.

Brian survived his wife Pat, who died in 2020, and their only son Andrew whom they lost to MND in 2018. He leaves his Grandchildren Valentia and Sebastian, and their mum Jane.

Brian's passion and life's work was travel and he made his last trip, to his beloved Norway, as recently as 2022, at the age of 93. His openness to new experiences and eye for the curious and the humerous never left him, nor his unfailingly gentlemanly demeanour. Never one to allow sentiment to get the better of practicality, Brian oversaw the sale of his family home in 2023, when he realised he needed more support with daily life, and spent his last weeks in Lime Tree House care home in the village.

Brian will be much missed by his family and friends, including many people in Poppleton, his home since 1968.

Brian's funeral will take place in the White Rose Chapel at York Crematorium at 1.00pm on 19th February, with a gathering afterwards at the Lord Nelson in Nether Poppleton.

No flowers please.
