Shannon Louise Gomez passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 22nd of October 2023, at the age of 27 years old. She was a Team Leader at The Crown Hotel in Biggleswade, beginning her career with them in 2018, where she made many close friends who she cherished dearly. She was also a budding florist, having attended Shuttleworth College to study floristry, and she was known for her creative and stunning flower arrangements.
Shannon is survived by her parents, Michelle and Rene; her siblings, Ricardo, Nicole, and David; her grandmother, Helen; and her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is predeceased by her grandmother, Disais Gomez, and her grandfathers, Rene Gomez Sr. and Ian Smith.
Shannon was born in Bedford, Bedfordshire on June 8th, 1996. She lived in Biggleswade for the first two years of her life, where she was a happy and joyful young girl. She had a love for stuffed animals from an early age, which continued throughout her life. Her absolute favourite stuffed animals were her three bunnies, who she named Flaca, Gordo, and Flicky.
Shannon and her parents moved to the state of Florida, U.S.A., in 1998. She lived in the United States for 16 years, graduating from Coral Glades High School in 2014. After her graduation, she moved back to England with her mother and brother, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Shannon was well-known for her colourful personality, infectious laugh, and striking fashion sense. In her teenage years, she often wore gothic clothing and makeup, but after moving back to England, her love for vibrant colours blossomed. Shannon often received compliments for the way she dressed, with her bright clothing and colourful hair making her stand out from the crowd - although you would probably hear her booming laugh before you saw her anyway. Shannon was also known for the way she liked to do her makeup, with her signature cat eyes, glittery eyeshadow, and colourful lipstick.
Shannon had a love for films, TV shows, and video games. She adored the Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings film series, and they played a big part in her life, inspiring her to write her own stories. She was also particularly fond of anime, with a few of her favourites over the years including Black Butler, Demon Slayer, and Bleach. When she wasn't at work or watching films, she could be found relaxing by playing video games, with some notable favourites being Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem, and Pokémon, to name a few.
Shannon was also very creative, with her hobbies including writing fantasy and romance stories, and she even enjoyed tinkering with making her very own video games. She would spend many hours crafting fantastical worlds based on the things that she enjoyed.
The family extends our sincere appreciation to everyone who has shown their support during this difficult time, and we've taken great comfort in the stories and photos that have been shared about Shannon. All of her family and friends will miss her deeply, and she will be remembered for the light she brought into our lives.
