With sadness we announce the celebration of life and committal for Jean Sylvia Dudley - Hardy who passed away at Brinsworth House aged 94 yrs.
Jean was born in Camac Road Twickenham to Arthur and Maud Higgs and was sister to Lillian Higgs.
She went on the stage at the age of 16, touring as a Tiller Girl and travelling to all the famous theatres and seaside pavilions for summer seasons. She was a very good friends with Frankie Howard often sharing digs together and her other showbiz friends included Bill Pertwee and Roy Hudd.
Aged 30 she married Ian Dudley-Hardy (Artist) at Caxton Hall on April Fools day 1960.
Following her time on the stage Jean worked for Bentalls Department Store in Kingston for many years and was an excellent saleswoman for Meredew Furniture. A job she truly loved.
Latterly she joined Kim at Twickenham Operatic Society and graced the stage in approx 15 shows. She still loved performing and often had the odd small part - most famously as the Queen of Transylvania in My Fair Lady!
Her love of animals - particularly cats is well known and she would often take in waifs and strays.
Following Ian’s death in 1990, Jean was heartbroken but carried on until 2015 when thankfully she came to Brinsworth House where she received the most excellent care.
She passed away peacefully on 16 April 2024.
Jean leaves her Nephew Tony and Nieces Kim and Sally and Great Nephew and Great Niece Lloyd and Chanelle.
