Ian passed away peacefully, at the age of 72, in Ipswich Hospital after a short illness. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 46 years Rosina and his two sons Matthew and Thomas who were present in his final moments. He also leaves behind two adoring daughter in laws in Dani and Lucy and three “Brilliant” grandchildren in Bethany, William and Georgia. He is also survived by his brother Colin and sister Val.
Ian had long retired but worked hard for many years. A bit of a Jack of all trades in his early career. He spent most of his working life as a Sales Consultant in the building trade at Jewson. Often telling us he built this or that building.
Ian was a life long supporter of his home team Ipswich Town FC. As a keen footballer himself in his youth he played in many local teams and will mainly be remembered for his time at Piccadilly FC and Rola Celestion FC. Though football wasn’t his only passion. His love of horse racing and betting on the gee gee’s was ever present even on his last day. In later life he would take up golf until the knees, hips and back packed in and he could no longer physically play.
Most recently he would get his exercise from walking and would aim to get his 10,000 steps in daily. He loved to walk along the River Deben, and along the River Orwell where he had fond childhood memories of time spent at Nacton Shores. Taking the grandchildren for walks on Holywells Park or to Felixstowe and watching their enjoyment will always be a happy memory.
He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends but we ask you kindly not to send flowers but instead donate to his favourite charity East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) via the link.
