What we offer
- Knowledgeable guidance and informed advice throughout the arrangement process
- Funeral services tailored to meet your wishes and needs
- Local knowledge of Kingsbridge and the surrounding area of Devon
- Cremation and burial services
- Services for all religions, beliefs and cultures
- A chapel of rest for visiting your loved one
- Hearses and other funeral vehicles, along with bespoke choices
- Funeral memorials, headstones and other tributes
- Peace of mind with prepaid funeral plans
A more traditional funeral, whether it is a cremation or a burial, usually begins with a funeral procession from the home of your loved one. The Hearse leads, with the cortege following behind, journeying to the service.
- The service is held in a church or another place of worship, or at the crematorium, depending upon your wishes
- Following the service, if the committal is being held elsewhere, the funeral procession travels to the final resting place, be it the churchyard by foot, or a cemetery or crematorium by vehicle
- The committal takes place at the graveside or inside the crematorium, often with a prayer or some final words spoken by the presiding minister or celebrant
- A funeral wake often follows: a gathering of family and friends at your loved one's home or a local Kingsbridge venue, marking an end to the day.

01548 852997From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
